Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Families play a vital and integral part in our program. We believe parents know their child best and we respect that insight.

We view parents as equal partners and encourage their participation. Parent participation enriches every facet of the classroom. The child loves for “Mommy/Daddy” to help at school. This gives the parent great opportunity to build deep relationships with the teachers and other children. The parent becomes familiar with the dynamics of the classroom community and their own child’s friendships.

This parent has their finger on the pulse of their child’s classroom life! Parent participation is not mandatory. We encourage families to decide what works best in your circumstances and engage when and where you can.

We always welcome your feedback. If there’s something you’d like to see us do differently, or something you think we do well, please let us know!

Role of the Room Parent

The room parent can play an important role in the classroom. They are a communication link between the teachers, other classroom parents and our parent group “Village Connection”.

Some of the things that room parents might be called upon to do include:

  • Assist Village Connection with school events. This could include making phone calls to families in your child’s classroom.
  • Assist teachers with activities.

Room parents enhance the bonds between parents, teachers and children. Each class will utilize their room parent’s skills a little differently. This is a great way to get to know all the families.
